Branson, MO

The weather hasn't improved in Branson. The dark cloud is
still following us around.

Today we braked for the Branson Veterans Memorial Museum. They recognize the Medal of Honor winners in the museum including Mike Fitzmaurice who graduated from Iroquois High School.

The museum lists the names of soldiers killed in Vietnam including Bob Whites

                                                 and Ted Voight.
The museum is ok but I have seen others that are just as good or better that didn't charge admission.

Texarkana, Texas and Arkansas

Today we braked for a WWI Veterans Memorial in Texarkana,
Texas. It listed all from Bowie County Texas killed in WWI
and the "Colored Men" were listed separately. The memorial
was built in 1936. Bowie County was named after Jim Bowie
who migrated here from Tennessee and fought at the Alamo
with Davie Crockett. There is a Jim Bowie knife on display
at the regional history museum.

Here is the WWI Memorial. I can't get it to stand straight.

I have one foot in Texas and one in Arkansas. Texarkana
is a regional hub for many judicial functions with the two
states sharing a courthouse and other facilities. If it weren't
for all the lawyers' offices in downtown there wouldn't be
much on main street. There are several clothing stores that
appear to cater to the lawyer crowd. One good place we found
was the Pecan Brewery and Restaurant. The only other customers
at 4:00p were lawyers, which was affirmed to me by the owner.

Spring Break Called Off

The dark cloud followed us to Padre Island and spring break has been cancelled. We were there yesterday.

Mission, TX update

We braked for the Texas War Memorial in Mission

There were memorials for each of the great wars since WWII.
This one was for Vietnam and showed all the various units.

What's wrong with this picture? We are wearing the same coats we
had on when we left Minnesota when it was -9F. The
Benston Rio Grand Valley State Park is located walking
distance from the RV park where we are located.

The World Birding Center is located in the park. Lots of
birders out taking pictures despite the bad weather.
A bobcat was spotted when we entered the park and
someone got a picture of it.

Helpful hint for RV owners

When winterizing your RV be sure to run the anti freeze through both the hot and cold water lines in the kitchen sink or one of them might freeze up. If you are in Mission or McAllen, Texas when your line breaks due to freeze up go to Bert Ogden RV Repair. If you can't get a replacement faucet Jose will solder the broken line for $93.00. Up North this would probably cost $400.00.

Finally found some sun today In Mission, TX.
But it may be short lived.

Last week we were in San Antonio for four days where
Barb was taking a workshop. I was waiting in the parking
lot at the South Texas Medical Center when this deer happened by.

He had a pretty good rack. The only thing I had to shoot
was a camera.
