Today we motored 60 miles northeast to Uvalde and the
Garner Museum, home of artifacts of John Nance (Cactus Jack) Garner. He was a long serving US Congressman and was FDR's vice president. He and FDR had some disagreements. Cactus Jack was a candidate for the Democratic nomination for president but when FDR announced a run for a third term that ended it for Cactus Jack and he retired to his home area, Uvalde.
